Principal's Report
School Support Staff Week
We would like to recognise, respect and celebrate the work our support staff do to make our school accessible, safe, supportive and an engaging place to learn. This is School Support Staff Week, this includes Administration Officers, Business Managers, Schools Officers (groundsman), IT Officers, Speech Language Pathologists, Community Education Counsellors. It's time to remind everyone how important their work contributes to the smooth running of our school. We truly appreciate their hard work and dedication that all our support staff provide. Thank you for everything they do to make our school Better & Brighter Every Day! I hope you take the time to say thank you for all that they do.
School Opinion Surveys – We want your feedback!
Thank you to all of those who have already completed the Parent/Caregiver Survey. If you have not had a chance to complete the survey yet, please note that the online surveys will remain open until Friday, 22 August 2025. This is your opportunity to provide feedback about what our school does well and how we can improve.
To have your say, check your email for an invitation from the Department of Education titled School Opinion Survey for parents and caregivers, 2025.
Can’t find your invitation? If your family has more than one parent/caregiver, check that they haven’t received the invitation and/or check your junk email folder.
Contact Details
Have your contact details recently changed? Student contact details must be kept up to date with the school for legal and emergency reasons. Please contact the office as soon as possible to notify of any changes to phone numbers, emergency contacts, email account and your address.
NAIDOC
Thursday 14th August, we will conduct our school-based NAIDOC celebration. Mr Mitchell our CEC has been working behind the scenes to organise a great day of events. The theme this year is The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy. We will have numerous community organisations joining us on the day as well as elders from across the community. Students will also have the opportunity to experience activities like traditional games, painting, storytelling and much more.
Book Week Dress up parade
Our annual Book Week celebration will occur on Wednesday 20th August (Week 6). This will include our whole school dress up parade form 8:45am in the Stadium. Children are encouraged to come dressed as a character from one of their favourite books. The theme this year is "Book an Adventure!". This theme encourages children to explore new worlds and embark on literary journeys through the magic of books. It's also a special year as it marks the 80th anniversary of Children's Book Week. WE hope you can join us for fun morning of bringing literacy to life.

Attendance
Why does school attendance matter?
Regular school attendance gives students a better chance at life. Students achieve better when they go to school all day, every school day because:
▪️They have increased access to learning opportunities.
▪️They maintain friendships
▪️They stay connected to the curriculum progression
▪️They develop self-efficacy as a learner
▪️They have better long-term life outcomes.
There are school staff available to support you with improving your child’s regular attendance and to also support your family. Our school offers multiple supports to help remove barriers to your child attending school, which is inclusive of providing food, school supplies, uniform items and now a health practitioner to support with illness. We can also refer you to external agencies to support your family.
We are here to help and work with you. We encourage you to contact us on 49 990 333 if you require further support or information.
Remember - Attendance is compulsory! Each parent of a child who is of compulsory school age has the legal obligation to ensure their child is enrolled and attends school on every school day for the educational program in which the child is enrolled, unless the parent has a reasonable excuse (explained). Parents may be prosecuted if they do not fulfil these legal obligations.
Year 1 Excursion
Our Year 1 cohort will attend the Pilbeam theatre to watch ‘The Gruffalo’ Performance. This is a free excursion with Cr Grant Mathers providing funding to support the opportunity. Year 1 students will be required to arrive before 8:40am and be in full school uniform.
Nurse Practitioner appointments
Kerinda our school nurse practitioner has been busy with many families taking the opportunity to connect for bulk-billed medical check-ups, referrals and prescribed medication. Kerinda is here every Monday during the school term, and you can book an appointment by contacting the office. Kerinda can also offer First Nations Health Checks so be sure to contact the office to book your appointment today.
Emergency procedure drills
Last week, we conducted our emergency procedures inclusive of both a lockdown and evacuation drill. This to ensure our school is in line with Workplace, Health and Safety protocols. These emergency procedures are required to be rehearsed by our staff and students to ensure safety measures are in place in likelihood it is needed.
P&C Meeting
Our next P&C meeting is scheduled for 6pm on Tuesday 12th August. I encourage you to come along to hear and have input about our school as well as support initiatives across our school community. We meet in the diverse learning hub located adjacent to the administration building.
