Week 1 

Word:   

Our word for the week is Comparison 

Friendly definition:   

When you look at two things in comparison it means you are looking at what is different and what is the same between them. 

Sentence examples:   

  • The apple was very small in comparison to the watermelon.  
  • My brother Mark is a very talkative in comparison to my brother Steve.  
  • I did a price comparison and realised that the sausages were cheaper from Woolworths than from Coles.  
  • The comparison between the Prep student and the grade four student’s work was very unfair.

Friendly definition:   

When you preferred something, you have like it or wanted to do it more than something else. We can also say prefer in the present tense.

  • Michael preferred to read books about sharks rather than the turtle books his Mum got him.  
  • The man preferred to drink water rather than juice because it was healthier for him.
